1, Connection design problems: Currently, 12V and 24V voltage is the most commonly used specification.  12V is 3 series of multi-way parallel structures, 24V is 6 series of multi-way parallel structures. The design of the width of the line and thickness of the copper foil would determine how long each strip can be connected. 

The cross-sectional area of the line is related to the unit area that can withstand the current strength. If we don't take it into consideration when wiring, then the connection length exceeds the line can withstand the current, the strip will be overcurrent and heat, which will not only damage the PCB but also reduce the life of the LED.

2, Production process problems: because the LED strip is a series-parallel structure, so when a short circuit in a group of circuits, it will lead to the same group of other LED voltage rise, the LED brightness will increase, the corresponding heat generation will also rise. The most obvious is in the 5050 strips.

5050 strip in any one of the chip circuit has a short circuit, it will cause the short circuit of that a lamp bead current doubled, that is, 20mA into 40mA, the brightness of the lamp bead will become very bright, but at the same time the heat will also increase sharply, serious will burn the circuit board in a few minutes time. But this problem is relatively obscure, generally less attention because the short circuit does not affect the normal light of the strip if the staff responsible for testing is only concerned about whether the LED light, and not to check the brightness of the abnormal, or do not do the appearance of the inspection, only electrical test, often ignore the problem, which is why many LED strip manufacturers are always encountering customer complaints that the product is hot, but also can not find the reason for this.
